CTF-Team ssh@uzl

Hello,

Our CTF team meets weekly on Tuesdays from 5pm in the Von Neumann seminar room to train and get to know each other, starting in WiSe 23/24. We are happy to welcome new members! We also have a Moodle course.

The CTF team "Superior Security Heroes of the University of Lübeck" or short "ssh@UzL" consists of motivated students who like to deal with concrete problems in the field of IT security. The team has given itself the motto "Securing Schleswig-Holstein" and consists of students from all computer science courses.

The concrete problems from areas such as "Reverse Engineering", "Web/Networks", "Crypto" or "Forensics" are tackled in a playful way in the context of "Capture-the-Flag" competitions, or CTF competitions for short, as a team. Competitions in which ssh@UzL has already successfully participated include the 35C3CTF (ranked 115 out of 636, internationally) hosted by the Chaos Computer Club in Leipzig at the end of 2018, as well as the GoogleCTF19Qualifiers (ranked 55 out of 276, internationally) hosted online by Google, and the international X-MAS CTF events X-MAS CTF 2019 (ranked 10 out of 1744), X-MAS CTF 2020 (ranked 27 out of 1064), and X-MAS CTF 2021 (ranked 9 out of 983). An overview of all CTFs we have participated in, as well as our current ranking in Germany and the world, is available on CTFtime.

In addition to participating in competitions, the team has hosted its own CTFs at the last two NooKs in the Audimax and in the context of the European Cybersecurity Month 2021. It is also the host of the Lühack CTF series, which started in May 2022.

IT security students can also receive credit for participation as a bachelor's project. Inclusion in other computer science degree programs is also underway.
